A few years ago, I started looking into solar energy. Just like you, I started with an online search exploring on how I could save money with solar electricity.
I was shocked to see how much it cost to have solar panels installed at my house! The estimate I received was over $35,000 and the payback time for that was just way too long. I certainly didn’t have that kind of money, not even close.
I was resigned to the idea of paying the electric company each and every month until I met a friend who had a solution. My friend explained that he was building his own solar panels for just a fraction of the cost of new retail solar panels. For more info on Green DIY Energy, click on the images above and below.

“The Venus Project” was started in the mid-1970s by social engineer, industrial designer, futurist and inventor Jacque Fresco and his partner, Roxanne Meadows. The project focuses on holistic design of sustainable cities, energy efficiency, natural resource management and advanced automation. Don’t miss this program if you are curious to know more about “The Venus Project”. It’s been highlighted in the film “Zeitgeist Addendum” and the consequent “Zeitgeist Movement” have attracted millions of people worldwide. We approach the subject and some of our questions about the Venus project from the point of view of how they plan to implement some of their ideas and how the system would be put in place if they had free hands to do so. We talk about a resource based economy, city design, transportation, new technology, engineering think on problem solving, computers systems, artificial intelligence and robots that take care of a lot of the management in and around cities. How would a transition over to something like “The Venus Project” look like? What is some of the philosophy behind the ideas of the project and this interview might have some aspects and question that you haven’t heard Jacque or Roxanne answer in other interviews. Topics Discussed: Peter Joseph’s Zeitgeist Addendum, The Venus Project, Venus Florida, Survey, Coral Castle, Economy, Environment, Education, Politics, Money System, Energy Systems, Camera, Resource-Based Economy, Is there Enough Resources World Wide …

Al Gore on the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien talking about geothermal energy. He claims the Earth’s core is “several million degrees” when, in fact, it is closer to 13000F. Epic Fail.

Medicine Hat started the Hat Smart program to help citizens invest in energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions to begin the process of creating a more sustainable energy supply. The program provided support for both energy efficiency measures such as insulation, new efficient furnaces and even clothes washers and renewable energy measures such as solar and geothermal. The program worked so well solar panels started springing up all over the City of 61000 and Medicine Hat experienced three times the participation rates of other cities in provincial and federal rebate programs. IN this episode we learn about this amazing, award-winning program and we talk to Alderman Ted Clugston, Dr. Keith King (a solar powered dentist), Donald Cranston (a green home builder) and Tina Regehr (a keen resident). NJRenewableEnergy.com The GeoClip™ is used to position the u-bend pipes of a vertical heat exchanger at the borehole wall and is designed to separate the pipes as far apart as possible. By achieving these objectives, you have installed a vertical heat exchanger with the highest heat transfer rate possible for that location, pipe size, grouting material, borehole size and depth. Problems associated with a standard vertical heat exchanger installation: Low Thermal Conductivity Grout: Most state regulations require using a bentonite based grout to seal the borehole. This bentonite based backfill has a very low thermal conductivity (or low heat transfer rate). Because the u-bend pipes are embedded in this insulating material, a deeper borehole must be drilled to achieve the required energy exchange with the earth. U-bend Pipe Energy Interaction: In a standard installation, the u-bend pipes are typically close to each other or even touching each other within the borehole. When the u-bend pipes are close together, they interfere with each other’s ability to exchange energy with the surrounding soil. This effect also requires vertical heat exchanger depths to be longer than necessary.
